Another busy Saturday out at the site. A lot of work in a lot of different areas including the female mold, firewall, transponder box, steering column and dyno.

Getting ready to cut out the old firewall and tail reinforcement.

Ridge left from the old firewall.

The old firewall.

Firewall v. 1 (Aluminum/X-30/carbon fiber) vs. Firewall v. 2 (Etched aluminum w/ 2 layers of carbon fiber)

Checking the size of the new firewall against the female mold.

Getting ready to lay up the new firewall. Instead of vacuum bagging, this layup was done using a sand bag method with the pressure of compacted sand flattening the carbon fiber in place. Thus, here a retaining wall is being built.

Laying two layers of carbon fiber from the base of the car to the bottom of the new firewall.

Pouring the closest thing available to sand (dirt from random pile outside).

Gardening in the bottom fairing.

Finished lay-up setup with weights compating dirt.

Winding down with a tasty epoxsicle.

Richard cuts carbon fiber tubing for the steering column.

Finished crossbar for steering column. Hand crafted from space age materials.
