2006 SAE Supermileage Competition -- Race Day, Pt. I The proving grounds opened up early on race day at 8am, with runs beginning promptly at 9am. Teams have as many chances as they can fit in the day with their best extrapolated mileage being their score. After a couple quick jobs to get the car race ready, it was on to the track. We got two attempts in during the morning with Thomas at the helm. A DNF (Did Not Finish) started the day after a thrown chain, but the 2nd run was completed with a mileage right about 600 mpg. The competition banner marks the starting line on the track. Getting unpacked and ready to go on race day. Pirate flag once again flies high above our pit encampment.
