2006 SAE Supermileage Competition -- Race Day, Pt. II Things kicked into high gear in the afternoon with 5 runs attempted. Kevin drove run 3 getting about 500 mpg before passing on to Jon, who ran into some tough luck. Starting run #4, loosening of the steering column forced the vehicle off the track right after the starting line. Run #5 was looking well until the 4th lap when something, perhaps wind, knocked the car off the track again at the top of the hill. After checking things out quickly again, Thomas went out twice more to finish the day, attaining the high figure of 628 mpg and another run of around 600.
