Glimpse to the Future

WHY?

As engineers, we were itching to build and get our hands dirty, and we’re excited to say that we’re going to build…

It’s a new year, and that means new idea, new plans, and a new direction for CalSMV. Our goal this year: build a car.

Last year, we accomplished our goal of researching and designing the car. We learned so much about each aspect of the car. We discovered how things are implemented, why we choose one method over others — and simply put, designed everything about the car. As engineers, we were itching to build and get our hands dirty, and we’re excited to say that we’re going to build a simpler version of the car that we spent so much time crafting and developing. Our goal will give all members invaluable experience about what it takes to develop an enormous project from scratch, and to see it through its implementation until the end.

Lastly, as a team, we want to do something new and try something different. This year’s car will be our first submission into the “Urban Concept” class of the Shell Eco-marathon Competition. And getting to start anew is quite super indeed.

HOW?

Simply put, we’re making sure everyone understands the goal and their role in achieving that goal.

With strong leadership, accountability, and a great plan. We’ve created a solid architecture and chain of command, and we’re ensuring that everyone on the team is communicating with everyone else. We’ve made sure that all of the members and team leads are on board and enthusiastic about the plan, and we’ve outlined our process for holding everyone accountable for their deliverables. Simply put, we’re making sure everyone understands the goal and their role in achieving that goal. With newfound resolve and determination, we’re eager to prototype and build.

WHEN?

we’re excited to show you what’s in store in the 2016 — 2017 season…

The Shell Eco-marathon Competition is in April 2017. We’ve set various milestones along the way, and we’re excited to show you what’s in store in the 2016 — 2017 season of CalSMV.

We hope that this gives you a glimpse as to what our goals are, the motivation behind those goals, and how we’re going to achieve those goals. We’ve grown a lot in the past year, and we’re looking forward to learning and improving even more as we bring our idea to fruition. We are Cal Super Mileage Vehicle — let’s build the car.
