A big thank you to Shell

Recently, the Team embarked to the Shell Martinez Refinery to participate in a town hall meeting, in which the local residents of Martinez meet with Shell’s representatives to discuss the relationship between the refinery and its local community. Many members of the community showed up and, to our surprise, showed great interest and appreciation in our team. As participants of Shell’s Ecomarathon competition, we were invited to present our vehicle and to showcase our design and build process.

Elsa also came along with us to showcase some of our work. Our prototype will be competing in less than a month. We highlighted her special features, such as her carbon-fiber monoqoque design or her entirely electronic steering system. We also described our progress, the reasons we are trying to build the car, and future plans for Lux with the promise to return next year with a new and improved car! After the presentation, we were very excited to learn that the Martinez Refinery would be sponsoring our transportation costs to and from the Detroit competition! With that in mind, CalSMV would like to give a big thank you to Shell!

As we promised at the Town Hall, we are going to work harder and bring something more amazing the next time we show up.
